First anniversary of get well for work free support programme
People at their lowest ebb, who have lost hope and direction are turning things around with the support of a free support scheme now marking its first anniversary.
WorkWell Fenland is for anyone who is struggling to return to or stay in work due to physical or mental health.
More than 400 people have now accessed the service, which launched in October last year, and got help to return to work, stay in work or take steps towards work.
The no-strings scheme, which isn't benefit linked, is run by Fenland District Council with NHS support and UK Government funding.
"Access the right support to make a difference to you"
Cllr Susan Wallwork said: "The feedback our team is getting from the individuals who have got in touch is so heartwarming and just makes us desperate to reach more people. We'd encourage anyone who is facing struggles to get back to or get into work due to a health issue to get in touch. People regularly tell us they'd reached a terrible low and weren't sure where to turn and the help and support of WorkWell Fenland made the difference. It's a chance to chat to someone who has time to listen, bring a fresh perspective, no judgement and is there to check in regularly and help you to access the right support to make a difference to you."
Individuals who join the scheme are linked with a coach who listens to their issues, offers expert advice on help available, support to access it and regular check-ins.
Individuals have been supported to return to full and part time work, access volunteering, change career direction, rediscover passions, access counselling, training and education, financial and benefits support, support groups, create back-to-work plans and discover mutually beneficial solutions with employers. They've been helped to take steps to manage depression and addiction. They report feeling hopeful and optimistic again.
WorkWell Fenland is part of a wider Cambridgeshire and Peterborough scheme.
