Glassmoor Local Environment Fund
Glassmoor Local Environment Fund is a small grants fund available to groups in Whittlesey, Coates, Eastrea, Pondersbridge and Ramsey Mereside and the surrounding area.
It is available to established community organisations to fund projects that improve the environment and enhance residents' knowledge of an environmental issue.
Typically, successful bids are of a maximum of around £10,000, but there is no formal maximum bid.
The fund can be used to fund the entire cost of a project, though the awarding committee may choose to offer part funding.
Funding is awarded once a year.
Constituted community groups or organisations (with a written constitution - or governing document - which sets out rules on how the organisation is run) can apply for funding, including volunteer groups, town and parish councils and charities.
Background to the fund
The fund was established in 2007 and is managed by a committee including:
- Fenland District Council
- Huntingdonshire District Council
- Local representatives living within the turbine catchment
Money will be added to it for 25 years (in total) by EDF Renewables, which owns and runs Glassmoor wind farm, Whittlesey.
Over the 25-year lifetime of the project around £437k will be added to the fund (fluctuating according to RPI).
What you can bid for
The committee will consider bids that enhance or protect the environment and educate people about an environmental issue.

This list is not exhaustive; other ideas are welcomed.
The following will not be funded:
- Bids from 'for profit' organisations
- Bids from individual households
- Fulfilment of statutory duty, running costs or maintenance
- Projects that won't have enough environmental or educational benefit
- Projects where the works have been completed prior to approval

The current round of bids closes on 31 March 2024
To apply, complete the application form. Please use the scoring criteria as guidance - this will help you to meet the requirements of the fund.
The committee will judge applications in either April or May.
Successful bidders are invited to put a plaque up once the project has been completed. The Environmental Projects Team can arrange for this to be provided.
