Street furniture

There are thousands of pieces of street furniture across Fenland. We usually look after:

• Street Name Plates (if the road has been adopted by Cambridgeshire County Council)
• Public seats and benches in town centre areas
• Tourist information signs
• District and town boundary signs
• Bus shelters
• Cycle racks and shelters
• Street lights (if owned by us)

Some parish councils look after their own benches, litter bins, street lights and bus shelters. This means they are responsible for their maintenance and repair.

Report a problem

If you spot a problem, report it online or email assets&projects@fenland.gov.uk

We aim to inspect the problem and begin repairs within 10 working days.

Full repairs and replacements can take up to 8 weeks. 

Street name plates

The site developer is responsible for putting street name plates into new developments. They must follow our Street Naming and Numbering Policy. 

We manage the plates once the development is complete and the road is adopted. 

Street name plates are there to identify the street. They are not intended to serve as a boundary, gateway, village or entrance sign. It is an offence to advertise on, deface or obstruct the plate.
