Disabled Facilities Grants

Disabled Facilities Grants can help fund changes that are necessary to help someone remain in their home.

About Disabled Facilities Grants

The grants can help pay for adaptions, such as:

level access showers
stairlifts
ramps
hoists
widening doors
some extensions, such as to provide a downstairs bedroom
other things that help you to remain in your home.

You may be eligible for a grant if:

you are a homeowner or landlord
you have a disability
someone living with you is disabled
you meet the 'means tested' criteria or need adaptations for a child (disabled children under 18 can get a grant without their parents' income being taken into account).

Help may also be available with the cost of moving if that is a better option than staying in your existing home.

How to apply

To apply for a Disabled Facilities Grant, you will initially need to work with Cambridgeshire County Council occupational therapy services.

Your needs will be assessed and if eligible for a Disabled Facilities Grant, you'll be referred to our home improvement agency for support in getting your home adaptations.
