Whittlesea Railway Station consultation extended

A public consultation inviting views on the future regeneration of Whittlesea Railway Station has been extended.

Consultation

Originally launched on January 5 for a four-week period, the consultation will now close on March 1, 2026.

Fenland District Council is seeking views on options to improve the station, which include a new pedestrian bridge and platform extensions, and improved public areas and car park.

More than 200 responses have been received so far, however the extension has been approved to address feedback about some potentially incomplete responses having been submitted. Some adjustments have since been made to address this.

Cllr Gary Christy, Chair of the Railway Station Masterplans project board and the Council's Portfolio Holder for Transport, said: "We would like to thank everyone who has already taken the time to attend our consultation events and share their views. And we look forward to hearing from anyone who hasn't yet had the time to respond or would like to offer additional input."

Whittlesea is one of three Fenland stations included in a rail regeneration programme being delivered through the Council's Railway Station Masterplans, which also includes March and Manea stations.

The programme is supported by funding from the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, with £3million earmarked for improvements at Whittlesea between 2024 and 2027.
