There's free and low-cost fun and activity for all on offer with Active Fenland.

The programme includes everything from walking football to yoga, specialist sessions for people who want to improve their strength and mobility, and for those with cardiac problems. Take a look at the full programme to find the class or activity for you.

New on the programme this month are a free, supportive and friendly 12-week programme of sessions for eligible people who want to lose weight, as well as one-off taster sessions, all in Chatteris.

Chatteris

  • Free Active for Health 12-week programme for eligible people who want to lose weight, Thursdays, 11.45am to 12.45pm, beginning Thursday, October 16, at Chatteris Leisure Centre, Eastwood, Chatteris, PE16 6FN. Booking essential: Active Fenland Bookings
  • Free one-off fun taster sessions, including boccia and kurling, detail on ongoing activity and healthy eating, Wednesday, November 5, 10am to 11am or 11am to noon, at King Edward Centre, King Edwards Road, PE16 6NG. Sign up available soon at: Active Fenland Bookings

March

  • Cardiac rehab sessions for people with a Phase 3 cardiac rehab team or medical professional referral. Mondays, 1.45pm to 3.30pm, at George Campbell Leisure Centre, City Road, March, PE15 9LT. Book and pay at leisure centre.
  • 'Pre-fit' seated and standing exercise for the infirm, for people who have noticed they are limiting their activity or have stopped doing things because they are getting more challenging (our 'strength and balance' classes are more gentle and a good start point if you're not ready for pre-fit), Wednesdays, 1pm to 2.30pm, at George Campbell Leisure Centre, City Road, PE15 9LT. Book and pay at leisure centre.
  • Free beginners' running sessions, 6.30pm to 7.30pm, Wednesdays, to October 29, at West End Park, March. Open to adults and children aged 12 plus. Anyone under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Sign up at: Active Fenland Bookings

Whittlesey

  • Strength and Balance chair-based exercise for the infirm, for people who have or are losing confidence in their balance or fear falling. Fridays, 11.30am to 12.30pm, at Manor Leisure Centre, Station Road, Whittlesey PE7 1UA. Book and pay at the leisure centre.

  • Free walking football, Thursdays, 10am to 12pm (football 10am to 11am; coffee and chat 11am to noon), Barton Road Recreation Ground. No need to book, just turn up.

Fenland District Council's Active Fenland secures grant funding to provide opportunities for people to live more active lives, especially where they might face additional barriers to do so. Activities are offered at venues across the district.
