Family running sessions

Free family running sessions, for adults accompanied by children aged eight plus, will be held at Wisbech Park.

Booking is essential.

The sessions will be Tuesdays, from April 22 to June 10, 6pm to 7pm, meeting at the pavilion at Wisbech Park, Lynn Road, Wisbech PE13 3AB. Sign up via: Active Fenland Bookings

They are a new addition to the programme following the announcement of Easter holiday running sessions, now for adults with children aged eight plus.

'Sporting Memories' social sports reminiscence-based group for people aged 50-plus

A free social sports reminiscence-based group for people aged 50-plus is launching Wednesdays, from April 23, 1pm to 3pm, at Manor Leisure Centre, Station Road, Whittlesey PE7 1UA.

The Sporting Memories group allows people with an interest in sport to come together weekly for two hours.

The session will include an hour of relaxed chat, with quizzes and fun activities such as 'spot the ball', free refreshments, and an hour of light physical exercise such as kurling, chair-based exercise or boccia.

It's for anyone aged 50-plus, including those living with dementia, depression or other long-term health conditions.

Active Fenland is supporting the project which is led by the Sporting Memories charity.

Volunteers are being sought to help at the sessions. To find out more about volunteering with Sporting Memories email kelly.hart@sportingmemories.uk

A new free wellbeing walk in Whittlesey has been added to the district-wide programme of them.

The new 'Gentle Stroll Whittlesey' wellbeing walk, will be a shorter and more gentle walk to the existing Whittlesey Wellbeing Walk.

The 'Gentle Stroll Whittlesey' will run at the same time as the existing walk, every 2nd & 4th Monday of the month (excluding bank holidays), 10am from the Buttercross, Market Street.

It will be around 45 minutes at a slow pace. Ideal for anyone looking for a slower paced walk but still a friendly and welcoming group. Rest stops will be available on the way and routes are accessible for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and buggies. Paths can be uneven in places but routes will not go off of the main paths in the town.  The walk will finish at Whittlesey library where tea/coffee is available for a small donation.

New starters are also welcome to join the existing Whittlesey Wellbeing Walk, which is usually up to an hour of walking.

Free Ramblers Wellbeing Walks are available across Fenland. See the full programme below for details.
