Grants Available to Help Cut Fuel Costs and Keep Homes Warm

Through the Council's Better Care Fund, eligible homeowners will be able to apply for grants to install first-time gas central heating if they currently don't have it or to replace broken or inefficient boilers and electric storage heaters.

This funding aims to help eligible residents lower their fuel expenses and make long-term improvements to the energy efficiency and comfort of their homes.

The scheme is available to Fenland residents who own their property and have bills and benefits registered to that address. To qualify, applicants must also either receive a means-tested benefit or have a low household income paired with high energy costs.

Funding may also be available for low-income households that include elderly residents, pregnant women, families with young children, or individuals with health conditions made worse by the cold.

Councillor Samantha Hoy, Fenland District Council's Portfolio Holder for Housing, said: "Our council is committed to supporting residents and this grant scheme is a fantastic opportunity for local homeowners to improve their heating, lower energy bills, and create warmer, healthier homes."
