Temporary roundabout installation open in March from Thursday 28 March
A temporary roundabout will open in March town centre this week, as the Broad Street regeneration contractor continues to work on schedule.
From Thursday 28 March, a temporary roundabout and road surface will be in use at the northern end of Broad Street, allowing motorists direct, straight over access from Station Road and Dartford Road.
Contractor Octavius will also be switching the works area from the northern and eastern parts of Broad Street to the southern and western areas, to progress the remaining phases of work throughout the spring and summer.
On the same day (Thursday 28 March), Octavius will also be changing the traffic management layout from 3-way traffic lights to 2-way traffic lights, on Broad Street only. These works will incorporate a full road closure on Grays Lane from Broad Street for 4 months, with access to Grays Lane from Dartford Road only, and no through route. Access will be for residents and deliveries to the businesses only.
These changes follow the completion of the first phases of the wider Broad Street programme (phase 1, 2a, 2b and 3 - please see Broad Street Project Schedule (PDF) [1MB] ), and will make way for works to continue on schedule.
Following completion of the wider scheme, the permanent roundabout and road surface will be installed towards the end of the project.
