Blue bin (recycling)

For recyclable items including cardboard, paper, aerosols, cans, tins, glass and plastics

Your blue recycling bin is for:

  • Cans and tins
  • Aluminium foil and trays
  • Plastic bottles
  • Plastic pots, tubs and trays
  • Aerosols
  • Cartons
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Paper and cardboard
  • Catalogues and phone books

  • No carrier bags, food waste, nappies or textiles please.
  • No batteries. Never put batteries in your bins as they can cause fires in the bin lorries and at the waste and recycling site. This includes batteries in everyday items, such as mobile phones, toothbrushes, toys, e-cigarettes and vapes. They should be recycled at various locations including household recycling centres, supermarkets and shops. Check Recycle Now's Recycling Locator.

Leave recycling loose in the bin. Remove food and liquids from containers. Empty and rinse bottles, jars and containers.

If your bin is too full

We offer free recycling sacks to leave out with your blue bin. You can order sacks online or collect them at one of our Customer Service Centres or Community Hubs. 

You can apply for a second blue bin if you have five or more permanent residents in your household.
