Proposed options for reorganisation
Information on the proposals for Local Government Reorganisation in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
Fenland District Council, through the Leader and Chief Executive, has been working with the other constituent councils in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to develop proposals. Leaders from those councils have met on several occasions and have worked productively together to consider different proposals for unitary government.
This process has concluded with five proposals for unitary government having emerged across the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area.
No decisions have yet been made on what these new arrangements could look like, but the Government has made it clear that it wants these councils to be unitaries (providing all services and covering all county and district/city functions).
The five proposals are:
