Consultation launched as latest stage of Wimblington and Stonea Neighbourhood Plan gets underway

Members of the public are being invited to comment on a draft Neighbourhood Plan for the villages of Wimblington and Stonea to help ensure it reflects the community's aspirations for future development of the area.

Consultation 2

The Wimblington and Stonea Neighbourhood Plan is the culmination of two years' work by Wimblington and Stonea Parish Council and the local community which, if formally adopted, would be used when making decisions on planning applications.

The Parish Council has now launched a pre-submission consultation on the draft plan, as required by Regulation 14 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012.

The consultation is the last opportunity for residents, businesses and stakeholders to comment on the plan before it is submitted to Fenland District Council to arrange an independent examination. Feedback gathered will be carefully considered and may inform revisions to the plan before a final version is submitted.

The consultation runs for six weeks, from Monday 28 October to Monday 9 December.

Cllr Dee Laws, Fenland District Council's Portfolio Holder for Planning, said: "Neighbourhood Plans are important, formal planning documents that contain planning policies created in consultation with a neighbourhood area. They supplement the planning policies of a local planning authority, such as Fenland District Council, giving towns and villages a greater say in how their communities are developed in future.

"I hope people living or working in the Wimblington and Stonea area will take this opportunity to help shape their draft Neighbourhood Plan before it is submitted to Fenland District Council to arrange an independent examination."

Angela Johnson, Wimblington and Stonea Parish Council's Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group Lead, said: "This is a crucial stage of the Neighbourhood Plan process, with your voice helping to ensure the plan reflects the shared vision, priorities and values of the Wimblington and Stonea community. This is the last chance to contribute to the draft before it is submitted so we hope as many people as possible will take part."
