Chance to chat all things rail at latest Meet the Manager event

Another opportunity to meet rail managers and transport representatives and ask questions about services and improvements is being held in Fenland next week.

The Hereward Community Rail Partnership (CRP), which champions the Hereward Line and its stations at Peterborough, Whittlesea, March, Manea and Ely, is hosting its latest 'Meet the Manager' event in Whittlesey on Friday 11 October.

The events are often held at local stations, but this time the event is being taken to two locations in the centre of Whittlesey:

  • Whittlesey Town Council Chamber, Peel House, 8 Queen Street, and Whittlesey Market Square
  • 9am to 12noon

Managers from Greater Anglia and East Midlands Railway will be on hand to answer questions and listen to feedback and comments - which will help them to help continually improve local rail services in line with customers' priorities.

Representatives from the CRP will also be there to speak to people about the attractions, things to do and great days out along Fenland's Hereward Railway Line.

Free refreshments will be available in the Council Chamber.

Cllr Chris Seaton, Chairman of the Hereward Community Rail Partnership and Portfolio Holder for Transport at Fenland District Council, said: "We are excited to host the latest 'Meet the Manager' event in the heart of Whittlesey as part of our ongoing commitment to engaging with the community.

"These events are a fantastic opportunity for people to voice their opinions, learn more about local railway operations, and get involved in exciting developments along the Hereward Line."

Martin Moran, Greater Anglia's Commercial, Customer Service and Train Presentation Director, said: "It is really important to us to hear from passengers about what matters to them and answer any questions they may have.

"We are keen to listen and understand people's experiences so that we can work to continually improve our service and meet customers' expectations and needs."

Kaye Robinson, Community Engagement Manager at East Midlands Railway, said: "These sessions are a great way to understand the opinions and concerns of the communities we serve. I'm looking forward to meeting people and hear about their experiences using our services."

The Hereward CRP is managed by Fenland District Council in partnership with train operators, railway user groups, station adoption groups and local residents. Together, the partnership works to champion improvements to the Hereward Line, and at its stations at March, Manea and Whittlesea, and engages communities to help them get the most out of their railway.
