Kathleen represented the Wisbech North ward on Fenland District Council from May 1987 to April 1991. As a member of Fenland District Council, Kathleen sat on the Housing and Health Committee, Finance Sub Committee, Policy and Resources Committee and the Recreation and Public Works Committee.

Cllr Nick Meekins, Chairman of Fenland District Council, said: "On behalf of the council, I extend our deepest condolences on the passing of Kathleen Brennan, a dedicated and loyal public servant."

In addition to her time with Fenland District Council, she was also a member of Wisbech Town Council from 1980 to 2003 and was the Mayor of Wisbech from 1986 to 1987.

Flags will be lowered at the Fenland District Council offices at Fenland Hall, March, as a mark of respect until after her funeral, which will take place on Friday 30 August.

A minute's silence will also be held before Fenland District Council's next Full Council meeting on Monday 30 September to recognise her achievements and contributions across more than two decades in local politics.
