Board member biographies:

Chair-elect: Iain Kirkbright

Iain moved to the area in 2007 with his wife and two children. Iain is a local businessman who has used his businesses to put the needs of the local community first and give back through a raft of fundraising schemes over the years.

Member of Parliament: Steve Barclay

The Rt Hon Steve Barclay is the Conservative MP for North East Cambridgeshire and has been an MP continually since 6 May 2010.

Steve is Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Fenland District Council Member: Cllr Sam Hoy

Cllr Hoy represents Wisbech wards on Fenland District Council and Cambridgeshire County Council as well as being a Wisbech Town councillor.

Wisbech Town Council Member(s): Cllr Susan Wallwork

Cllr Susan Wallwork takes a keen interest in supporting the town in an ever-changing world.

She was born in Wisbech, has raised a family here and works across the town.

She will use all that knowledge on the board to be resident-focused. 

Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) or their Representative: Ben Martin

Ben has worked in several different areas of policing over the last nineteen years, mostly as a detective in various roles encompassing volume crime, serious crime, acquisitive crime, counter terrorism, rape, domestic abuse and professional standards.

From 2021-2023, he was the superintendent in charge of the Custody and Criminal Justice portfolio for Cambridgeshire Police which covers all custody provision as well as case file quality, investigation standards, victim and witness care and Out of Court Diversions.

For the last six months, he has been the area commander for Peterborough and Fenland, looking after local policing for the northern half of Cambridgeshire.

Community member: Paul Faulkner

Paul was born in Wisbech and has lived in the town his whole life.

He attended school in the town and worked as a hairdressing stylist in a busy Wisbech hairdressing salon for many years.

In around 2009, Paul and his wife set up their own hairdressing business and around five years later moved to larger premises at the old Wisbech Arms.

They now have a very successful hairdressing salon, The Retreat, and rent properties in the town.

Community member: Louise Pitt

Louise moved to Wisbech aged eight when her parents fell in love with the character and history of the town, and she has been a permanent resident ever since.

Louise wants to restore the community's sense of pride and feelings of safety within the town.

Community member: Amanda Scott

Amanada was born in Wisbech's Bowthorpe Maternity Hospital and has lived in the town all her life. Amanda attended Queens' Girls School and Isle College and belonged to Wisbech Players and Wisbech Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society for many years.

Amanda started volunteering at Wisbech Castle in 2018 after starting my own business. She wanted to give something back to her hometown. Amanda is very passionate about the history and importance of the town in times gone by and likes to share that with as many people as possible.

When Amanda is not volunteering, she likes to visit gardens and tea rooms. She's researching the best gluten free cakes!

Member of Cambridgeshire County Council: Cllr Steve Tierney

Cllr Tierney is a Wisbech Town, Fenland District and Cambridgeshire County councillor.

Steve lives in Wisbech and is married with a teenage son.

He's an I.T. professional and entrepreneur. Steve is an experienced councillor, a regular volunteer and is committed to reminding people that Wisbech is, and always will be, the Capital of the Fens.

Member of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority: Cllr Chris Boden

Cllr Boden is Fenland District Council's leader and a member of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority and Cambridgeshire County Council.
