Repairing and Furnishing Your Home
Guidance on arranging repairs in a rented property and furnishing a new home
Online repair checker for tenants
The Government has an online tool called 'Check how to get repairs done in your rented home'. You can use it to find out how to get something fixed by your landlord or letting agent or what to do if your landlord or letting agent are not responding to your requests. You'll receive ideas about what to do next and links to more information.
Furnishing Your Home
When you move into your new home, you may not have much furniture. Some homes may not have flooring or white goods such as fridges and washing machines. The walls may also be bare.
There are organisations that can support you with furniture packages, paint or refurbished goods. Many people offer items they no longer need on Freegle, Facebook Marketplace or Freecycle.
You can also check Turn2Us to see if there are any other grants you are eligible for.
