The Whittlesey Heritage Walk guides you on a circular tour of the historic Fenland town.

It takes in the town's most historic landmarks and provides a unique insight into its history and heritage, as well as local transport information.

The walk provides options to follow a long or short trail, highlighting fabulous facts and intriguing histories of the buildings and features around Whittlesey.

It even includes fun, augmented reality games for the kids when you follow the walk using the free Love Exploring App (opens new window).

The walk also promotes other town assets such as Whittlesea Railway Station, Kings Dyke Nature Reserve, Lattersey Nature Reserve and a wonderfully scenic riverside walk.

Ways to take discover Whittlesey Heritage Walk:

• Head to Market Place, Whittlesey, and follow the directions set out on each Whittlesey Heritage Walk Information Board.
• Download the Whittlesey Heritage Walk Brochure (PDF, 6 MB). Copies of the brochure are also available for those without internet access from the Whittlesey Town Council offices in Queen Street (see Whittlesey Town Council website for opening hours).
• The Whittlesey Heritage Walk routes are included in the amazing Love Exploring App, enabling explorers to travel the route using their mobile phone. Download the free Love Exploring mobile phone app (opens new window) today.
• Join the circular Whittlesey Wellbeing Walk which includes part of Whittlesey Heritage Walk. This social group walk meets at the Buttercross, in Market Place, at noon on the third Monday of each month.

Background

The walk was originally identified as part of the Growing Fenland Whittlesey project and created thanks to funding from the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.
